The Wine Collective Pairs Boomi and NetSuite to Streamline eCommerce

A top Australian wine merchant gains agility to innovate across its digital business, speeding integration development 5X with Boomi.

The Wine Society, Australia’s oldest wine club, merged with the Online Liquor Group in late 2017 to create The Wine Collective, offering a curated collection of thousands of wines from 200 wineries. The new company needed to upgrade integration to help create a unique, digital-first experience for Australian wine lovers.

Unlike fine wine, custom-coded integrations don’t get better with age. They become brittle, prone to failure, and costly to maintain. At The Wine Collective, developing a new integration could take months, and even a small change could take weeks. That diverted developers from focusing on innovations that could grow the business.

Custom connections between NetSuite and a Shopify ecommerce platform were especially problematic. Inventory on two branded websites wasn’t updated in real time, resulting in a high number of out-of-stock situations and dissatisfied shoppers who ordered wines that weren’t available.

And the Wine Collective struggled with manual data work in warehousing and shipping. Moving order data between NetSuite and Australia Post, a third-party shipper, meant manual data imports and exports for the IT team. Meanwhile, customers didn’t have real-time order status.

The Wine Collective selected Boomi for its versatility, development speed, and prebuilt connectors to NetSuite and Shopify. Live on Boomi in mid-2018, The Wine Collective now runs seven Boomi integrations with more to follow. The company has:
