Moderna Relies on Boomi to Accelerate Employee Onboarding, Boost Productivity

Rapidly and securely onboarding new full-time and contract personnel is critical for biotechnology innovator Moderna Inc., which employs hundreds of scientists and clinical specialists in a tightly controlled R&D environment.

Streamlining error-prone and time-consuming manual onboarding and user provisioning became a priority as  company grew its workforce to more than 800 full-time employees plus dozens of contractors. Moderna needed to integrate ServiceNow with systems including Workday for HR, SAP for enterprise resource planning, SAP SuccessFactors for learning management, and Microsoft Active Directory for identity management. The company had already used the Boomi Integration and Master Data Hub services in multiple use cases, including budgeting and service provider payments, and a migration from NetSuite to SAP. IT leaders saw that Boomi, a longtime ServiceNow partner, would also be ideal for the onboarding project.

Moderna's Boomi implementation ensures full-time and contract workers are quickly equipped with laptops, badges, and appropriate access to systems and labs. That’s improved employee productivity from the first day, and boosted the morale of employees and managers.
