Colleges and universities around the world are in the midst of digital transformation. The best and brightest among them have data and application integration at the center of their modernization initiatives.

At Dell Boomi, we’re proud to help hundreds of higher education institutions achieve their goals. Universities use Boomi’s unified platform to streamline the full applicant-thru-alumni lifecycle and build a 360-degree student view. They’re creating new digital and mobile experiences that enrich the learning environment. And they are connecting across hybrid IT environments to unify best-of-breed cloud apps and legacy systems.

The success stories from some of our top university customers will be in the spotlight at the annual Boomi World conference, November 5-7 in Las Vegas. This is a great opportunity to get best practices, insightful tips and inspiration from real-world innovators who are building connected campuses with Boomi. If you haven’t booked your spot to Boomi World, register today!

In addition, Boomi will be at the EDUCAUSE 2018 annual conference (Booth 1003) October 30 to November 2 in Denver. We’re joining the broader Dell Technologies team, an EDUCAUSE conference Platinum Partner, to showcase our integration platform at this gathering of more than 5,000 higher education IT professionals, CIOs and academic leaders.

At Boomi World, higher education professionals won’t want to miss the chance to hear from Cornell University, the University of Miami and Flinders University. Leaders from these organizations will discuss how they’re using Boomi to innovate and execute their digital transformation strategies. Mark your calendar for these informative sessions!

Boomi and the Connected Campus: Insights From Higher Education Customers

Tuesday, Nov. 6, 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.

You’ll hear from John Parker, an integration architect at Cornell University, and Beth Hernandez, executive director of enterprise application services at the University of Miami. They’ll detail how Boomi helped them drive significant improvements in managing their hybrid IT infrastructures and the benefits they’ve seen by using cloud-native integration. Plus, I'll provide an overview of Boomi’s higher education solutions for building digital campuses.

Performance Matters: Scaling Integration Processes to Match Business Needs

Tuesday, Nov. 6, 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.

Nicole Fishers, deputy CIO at Flinders University in Australia, will outline how Boomi fits into Flinders’ cloud-first strategy to deliver personalized digital experiences and automated workflows for its 27,000 students and 2,500 staff. Fisher’s discussion touches on how Flinders optimizes the performance of integration processes across its IT environment. You’ll also hear from Dave Lesshafft, Boomi technical architect, on key performance considerations.

Boomi: Your Partner for Building the Digital Campus

With Boomi solutions for higher education, universities are improving student outcomes, increasing speed and agility, and gaining new administrative efficiency by connecting applications and eliminating previous manual data entry work. The University of Miami, for example, is using Boomi to connect integration points that include data on students, alumni, faculty and staff, fund-raising, grant management and more.

In one case, the University of Miami, with more than 17,000 students, is connecting applications for fund-raising, HR, student management and other systems to strengthen relationships with alumni, students, personnel, parents and donors. The university also has faculty onboarding, student learning, faculty research and other initiatives in its integration pipeline.

Cornell Accelerates Cloud-First Strategy

Mapping out a transition to a cloud-first model that can transform learning, administrative and IT functions, Cornell University’s IT team recognized that its legacy on-premise middleware imposed way too much overhead. Slow development, high maintenance costs, and shortcomings in stability and runtime speed prompted the Ivy League school, based in Ithaca, N.Y., to turn to Boomi.

Starting with an integration involving cloud-based Workday Human Capital Management, Cornell today relies on Boomi for 37 integrations across a hybrid environment of best-of-breed cloud and on-premise applications. Cornell has dramatically improved both development and runtime speed. Integrations that took months in the past can now be accomplished in days or weeks.

“We develop integrations with Boomi in a quarter of the time it took us before, and those integrations run three or four times faster than they did on our previous platform,” Parker says. “Boomi has helped us modernize both our strategy and our move to cloud-based, best-of-breed applications with much more streamlined and simple upgrade paths.”

Flinders Builds the Connected Digital Campus

A top-ranked educational and research institution for more than 50 years, Flinders University is extending its leadership with a visionary initiative called Making a Difference: The 2025 Agenda. The ambitious program is supported by a five-year digital transformation strategy, which includes moving up to 90 percent of the university’s applications to the cloud.

Ad hoc, point-to-point integrations couldn’t support Flinders’ aim of providing a digital campus experience, personalizing engagement with students, and streamlining core business and academic processes. But Flinders found the answer to its integration challenges with Boomi. The university chose Boomi for its capabilities across a broad spectrum of integration needs, from basic application connectivity and data quality governance to API management and workflow automation.

In an initial project, Flinders used Boomi to rework and replicate 130 integrations as it moved its core student management and financial systems to the cloud — completing the work in half the time it would have taken with traditional approaches. Building on that success, Flinders is relying on Boomi in a half-dozen additional projects, including streamlining the student lifecycle and building 360-degree student views.

“Speed is a key benefit of Boomi that helps us do everything in an agile fashion and deliver value much more quickly,” Fishers says. “Boomi is the foundational element as we connect multiple systems to provide a seamless student experience and gain an end-to-end student view.”
